  1. Elizabeth Renner, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCACP, CACP

    Originally from Redford, Michigan, Elizabeth Renner earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and her Pharm.D. from the University of Michigan. She completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Toledo (Ohio) Hospital Family Medicine Residency, with a focus in ambulatory care. Renner worked in outpatient internal medicine after residency, and now focuses on cardiovascular medicine. In her current position, Renner works primarily in outpatient anticoagulation. Her professional interests include anticoagulation, heart failure, cardiovascular risk reduction, medication optimization and patient education. In her spare time, Renner does CrossFit, runs, loves movies and spends as much time as possible with family and friends.

  2. Nicole Rockey, Pharm.D., BCACP

    Nicole Rockey is a board-certified ambulatory care pharmacist. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Doctorate of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Michigan. In 2008, Rockey completed a PGY1 residency with an ambulatory care focus at the VA Boston Healthcare System. She then worked in a pharmacotherapy clinic at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Peabody, MA prior to joining Midwestern University (MWU) Chicago College of Pharmacy in 2010 as an assistant professor of pharmacy practice. While at MWU, Rockey precepted many pharmacy students, taught a diabetes management course and worked in a Medication Therapy Management Clinic at DuPage Medical Group in Naperville, IL. She returned to her home state of Michigan and joined UMHS in 2015 as a PCMH pharmacist at the Ypsilanti Health Center. Her professional interests include diabetes management, cardiovascular risk reduction, and team-based healthcare models. Rockey also enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two children.

  3. Claire Rodrigues, Pharm.D., BCACP

    Clinical Pharmacist Specialist

    Claire Rodrigues received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University. She completed her PGY1 at Detroit Medical Center (Harper University Hospital) and completed her PGY2 in ambulatory care at the University Arizona College of Pharmacy. She is a board-certified ambulatory care pharmacist. She worked as an ambulatory care pharmacist at JPS Health Network in Fort Worth, TX for 8 years. At JPS, she helped start transitions of care services and served as supervisor for the ambulatory care pharmacy team. In 2023, the JPS clinical pharmacy team was nationally recognized by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties with the Weaver Penna Award for making clinical pharmacy service advancements in health quality and patient care. Returning to her home state of Michigan, she joined Michigan Medicine as a clinical ambulatory care pharmacy specialist. Her current clinical roles include transitions of care, centralized PCMH, Paxlovid service, and hypertension management at Ypsilanti Health Center. Her professional interests include health equity and chronic disease state management.

  4. Michael A. Smith, Pharm.D., BCPS

    Michael Smith is a Pain and Palliative Care Clinical Pharmacist and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. Originally from Philadelphia, Smith earned both a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. He completed his pharmacy practice and internal medicine specialty residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. His research interests include pain and symptom management and the appropriate use of medications in palliative care patients.

  5. Archana Sondor, Pharm.D.

    PGY-2 Resident

    Archana Sondor was born and raised in Canton, MI. She attended Michigan State University for her undergraduate studies where she received a bachelor’s degree in human biology. She then went on to complete her PharmD at Wayne State University. She is currently completing a PGY1 community pharmacy residency with Meijer Pharmacy/Wayne State University and will be continuing with a PGY2 residency in ambulatory care pharmacy with University of Michigan Health. Her professional interests are academia, ambulatory care, rural health, transitions of care, and expanding the role of the community pharmacist. Outside of pharmacy Archana enjoys dancing, watching movies with her family, and playing with her Aussiedoodle.

  6. Denise Sutter-Long, Pharm.D., BCPS

    Clinical Pharmacist - Ambulatory Cardiology/Anticoagulation Management

    Denise Sutter-Long is a clinical pharmacist specialist in ambulatory care where her practice focus is cardiology and anticoagulation management. Originally from Marietta, Georgia, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Georgia Institute of Technology and her Doctorate of Pharmacy from Harrison School of Pharmacy at Auburn University. She completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington, KY, then made her way to Michigan and completed her PGY2 in Cardiology at the University of Michigan Health System. After completing residency, she joined the Detroit Medical Center where she practiced as a clinical pharmacist specialist in cardiology and internal medicine for five years. In additional to clinical practice, Denise was an adjunct faculty member at Wayne State University for both the school of pharmacy and school of internal medicine and served as the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Director for Detroit Receiving Hospital. Her professional and academic interests include cardiology, anticoagulation, and transitions of care. She is also passionate about teaching and mentoring pharmacy students and residents. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, exploring new places, and spending as much time as possible with family and friends.

  7. Amy Thompson, Pharm.D., BCACP, CDE

    Director of Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Practices at the U-M Medical Group, Amy Thompson came to the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy from the South Carolina College of Pharmacy/Medical University of South Carolina (SCCP/MUSC). She is a graduate of the MUSC College of Pharmacy and also completed PGY1 and PGY2 residencies specializing in family medicine. After completing her residency, she joined the faculty at SCCP/MUSC and held a clinical practice site in an internal medicine clinic since 2007. Thompson is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist and Certified Diabetes Educator. In addition to clinical practice, Thompson has served as a residency program director for the PGY1/PGY2 Ambulatory Care pharmacy residency at MUSC. Her research interests include geriatrics, interprofessional education, medication safety and transitions of care.

  8. Kristen Ward, Pharm.D.

    Clinical Assistant Professor - University of Michigan College of Pharmacy

    Kristen Ward, Pharm.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. Kristen earned her Pharm.D. in 2014, and then completed a three year fellowship with Dr. Vicki Ellingrod at the University of Michigan College of pharmacy prior to obtaining her current position. Clinically, Kristen practices in ambulatory psychiatry at the Rachel Upjohn Building and also works on psychiatric pharmacogenomics implementation projects. Her research goals are to improve antipsychotic medication outcomes through the application of pharmacogenomics and metabolomics precision medicine research techniques. She loves mentoring and spending time with her two young daughters.

  9. Trisha Wells, Pharm.D.

    Trisha Wells is a clinical assistant professor of pharmacy in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy and a clinical pharmacist within the U-M Hospitals and Health Centers. Wells received her doctor of pharmacy degree from the U-M in 2003, and completed a pharmacy practice residency at DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit in 2004. After her residency, she continued to work for Sinai-Grace Hospital in both inpatient and ambulatory care. In 2005, Wells joined U-M as an ambulatory care pharmacist and developed this role at U-M Brighton Health Center. In 2011, she and her colleagues received state and national recognition from the Michigan Pharmacists Association and the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists for their group-practice model in the patient-centered medical home model of patient care.
